From Knowing to Doing: Overcoming the Struggle

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I know what to do, I just need to do it,” only to get sidetracked and lose focus?

It’s a common feeling that many of us have experienced in various areas of our lives, whether it’s fitness, nutrition, business, or relationships.

But why is it that we often know what we need to do, yet struggle to actually do it?

The Struggle to Take Action: Why Knowing Isn’t Enough

There could be many reasons for this.

Perhaps we feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, or we get too focused on the distance we still have to cover to reach our goal. It’s also possible that we get distracted by the latest trends or marketing gimmicks.

Starting a new journey of any kind can be like navigating a new city without GPS. It’s easy to take a wrong turn, get stuck in traffic, and what should be a simple journey becomes stressful and unpleasant.

The Value of Coaching and Mentorship: How to Succeed Faster

Through own struggles, as being small business owners and in life in general, we have learned the value of enlisting the help of a coach or mentor. We regularly get assistance from business mentors to work through the challenges of owning a small business, and experts in fitness and nutrition to ensure we have the knowledge and skills to get you the best results.

These coaches/mentors help navigate the confusing and overwhelming landscape and focus on the strategies and actions that will move the needle forward.

The early days of RTCF looked like group classes and some nutrition coaching, mainly in the form of handing out meal plans and setting macronutrient targets. Members saw results, but it wasn’t enough to create lasting change.

We realized that once members stopped working with us in one or more areas, the majority of them would revert back to their old habits and routines and end up back where they started or sometimes worse than where they started.

So we went back to the drawing board to figure out what we were doing wrong and how to fix it!

We realized that most of our members spent an average of 2.7% of the week with us in the gym.

There’s a whopping 165 hours a week outside of the gym for them to wonder, hope, and pray that they’re doing the “right” thing.

This is where we were falling short.

We needed to mentor our members, not just in the gym but outside as well.

As a result, the Rugged Terrain Mentorship program was born!

This program allows us to work closely with members to not only address the workouts and nutrition, but to work on the habits and routines during the 165 hours a week they are not at the gym.

We focus on workouts/daily movement goals, simple sustainable eating habits, sleep, stress, planning/scheduling, and prioritizing self-care to be able to “show up” in all areas of life.

We’re not sure why it took us so long to figure this out, but we’re glad we finally did!

We can now help transform more lives and cut out the noise and nonsense because everyone deserves to live their best life. Having a coach or mentor can make all the difference in achieving your goals and making lasting change in your life.

If this sounds like what you need, let’s talk!
