I Feel Like I’m Struggling to Get Through Each Workout, What Can I Do?

If you’ve just started working out or have recently changed up your workout routine, it’s completely normal to feel challenged.  Now is not the time throw in the towel. The challenges that you’re presented with now, will lead fitness success.

Here are 5 tips to keep you on track and help fight the urge to give up when things feel hard:

  1. Modify– can’t do a full push-up?  No, problem! Try knee push-ups or elevated box push-ups, you will get the same results and over time will build the strength to be able to complete a full push-up.  If you can’t complete the 30 burpees written in the workout, why not do 10 or 15?  It’s important to remember that everyone has a different starting point, just don’t give up!
  2. Take a Break– Need a break between reps?  Take it.  Grab some water and come back stronger for the next set.
  3. Lower Your Weights – If your weight is so heavy that you can only get through a rep or two, lower the weights.  Overdoing it when you’re just starting out won’t get to your goal faster and can lead to injury.  Be patient and listen to your body.
  4. Find a Workout Partner – If you’re struggling to stay motivated during your sessions, a workout partner can help stay accountable and push you a little farther than you would on your own.  Even better, make it family affair and get your spouse and kids involved.

If you read this, you’ve likely just started your fitness journey and we’re here to tell you how awesome you are!  Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body and mind.  Struggles are a natural part of growth, how you respond to those struggles it up to you.

So, what are you waiting for?  Grab those gym clothes and get your sweat on!  You’re one workout away from being closer to your fitness goals!
